Canine eyed Ed with uncertainty. Canine: Do you not believe my skill, Major? Yes, I can sniff things out very accurately, as long as there isn't any different scent over powering the object in question. Canine took the flag out of the canister, and demonstrated by sniffing it slightly and feeling the fabric. To sift out the different properties it contained. Canine: Alright. I got the scents of plastic, rubber, and a stretchy fabric...Nylon I think. This should be enough for me to find some other flags. She put the flag back into the canister and sighed, while looking at Ed skeptically. Canine: Well? Does that meet your standards, Major? Ed still wasn't convinced. Ed-"You've determined the make up.I'll give you that. The three principles of alchemy are determining the make up,breaking it down, and rebuilding it as something else.Sorry but I still think you're a chimera." Ed turned away from them and walked off in another direction hands in his pockets, head down. The early anticipation of doing something new was diminished and once more he wandered the streets of Central avoiding the memories of the past.

She sighed. Some 'teamwork' this was turning out to be. She turned back to Canine, trying to look optomistic. At least she was still on good grounds with ONE of her teammates. Elf smiled a little unsurely. "So," she started. "How about we try to find those other flags while Edward cools off, huh?"

"So," she started. "How about we try to find those other flags while the Major cools off, huh?" Canine sighed heavily, not knowing what to do with her cynical teammate. Canine: I haven't even used alchemy yet...I just deciphered the make-up of the flag, nothing special. My alchemy is just basic, like... Canine looked around for an area with a few rocks. She found one with a large rock, and a multitude of little ones. Canine took out a piece of chalk from her side pocket, and quickly drew a transmutation circle on the large rock. She placed her hand on it, and made many of the smaller rocks touch the larger one. She breathed out and then pressed on the circle. The rocks glowed a white light, and in a second, the rocks formed a tall rock, with steps going upwards to the top of it. Canine: I can do basic alchemy like this. But my over-sensitive senses are some form of alchemy as well. I'm able to use alchemy, which is noticed on my ring on my nose. The transmutation circle is small, but it does the job efficiently. If I am trying to concentrate on a specific scent in the air or on an object, the transmutation circle on my nosering activates, making me able to sift out the scents much easier. Canine sighed and then half smiled. Canine: Yeah...Oh! Since I made this 'tower,' we could use it to see if we can see any flags from up top. (OOC: Pardon me, if that explanation makes no sense whatsoever. @.@)

She couldn't help but wish saddly that Canine had pointed that out earlier. Then maybe she and Ed could've avoided the whole 'chimera' arguement... not that Elf was sure Ed would've believed the two Colonel's to be of much use anyway. He seemed very much to be the type that preferred to work alone. She guessed it would take quiet a bit on her part to redeem herself after the whole "short" fiasco. Not that she had a clue where to start. Elf shook herself back to present matters and listened to Canine's Idea. It was a good idea... but then she looked up at the tower. Elf swallowed hard as she looked over the length of the tower. She turned to Canine, scratching the back of her head a little sheepishly. "I guess this would be the time to mention my slight problem with hieghts..."

Canine: Ah I see...That's fine, I guess I'll go up there.
Canine climbed the stair footing of the tower up to the top.
Canine: Hey! Can you see any flags down there?
She called down, as she searched the upper area.

Major Jingles stared at the Lt. Col. for a moment, before breaking out into tears herself, grasping his hand with her own, shaking it up and down vibrantly. "You must be THE Lt. Col. Armstrong! I have heard so much about you magificent and graceful alchemy and I can't wait to see you in action! It will be an honor, sir, one that I will treasure throughout the rest of my life!" Then at the drop of a hat, she turned and ran up to General Emoghostskirt, "No questions at all, sir! I'll go find those flags!" She saluted and ran off down the tunnel, her bracelet echoing through the darkness. As soon as Major Jingles left, Armstrong ran downstairs and entered the same tunnel, disturbing many of the library's residents with his booming and pounding footsteps. By the time the Lt. Col was at the entrance of the tunnel, however, he had lost sight of the Major. The only trail he had was the rapidly fading jingling of her bracelet. He stood outside, waiting for Lt. Hawkeye and not wanting to get lost in the labyrinth of the twisting tunnels. While waiting for the lieutenant, he cried out for Major Jingles, saying "Major Jingles! We must work as a team to get this assignment done!"

When Canine called down to her, Elf lowered her gaze and searched around. She sighed and scratched her head. Just as she was about to call back that she'd found nothing... a flash of yellow drew her attention. Elf looked closer at a tree in a nearby park. She looked back up at Canine. "HEY! I think I found one!"

She also saw yellow there. Canine: That it? She said, as she walked over towards it.

Den skidded to a stop due to the floor being a bit wet from the rain. She had to put her hand out against the nearest wall to fully stop, because of how slippery the floor was. "Sorry I'm so late, General!" She panted, slightly winded from running up the stairs. She noticed the other members of her team had arrived already. "I'm really sorry I'm so late..." She said quietly, "Have we started the exercise already?" she bit her lower lip a littler, worried.

She looked closer and found that it was indeed a flag... but it had been transmuted partly into the tree. Elf looked over at Canine. "I know I said I did herbalism... but maybe you should try first," She said, smiling and laughing just a little.

Canine raised her eyebrow, "Why don't you do it? I haven't seen much of your skills yet anyways. There's plenty of time for me to show off my valor." She laughed.

Mustang reassign you to other odd jobs." she said still not in a good mood. She sighed and pointed to where they were going. "as i have already said to everyone else we are starting underground and have to be quiet so not to cause cave ins we dont need anyone dieing on the first day. Ill be joining you for the exercise today." she said then started on her way down into the darkness.

She also saw yellow there. Canine: That it? She said, as she walked over towards it. Colonel Kaiya Hawkbelle noticed her group out to begin the mission from a distance. She picked up her speed and set out to catch up. Late again?! I thought for sure I'd make it in time to introduce myself this time!! Realizing how far behind she was she held her right hand against her chest and pulled back her sleeve to reveal a cloth band around her wrist with a transmutation circle inscribed on it. She pressed the fingers of her left hand to the transmutation circle while running and her speed dramatically increased, almost making it impossible to see her as she dashed through along the ground. She came to an abrupt stop alongside Colonel Canine and put her hand to her head in a salute. Her other hand pulled out her silver pockethingych, certifying her as a state alchemist. "Colonel Kaiya Hawkbelle, the "Agile Alchemist", reporting. Sorry I'm so late. Didn't I see Major Elric with you a moment ago?"

Canine blinked with awe, she didn't even see her come up so fast.
Canine: Heh? Where'd you come from?!
She laughed, and then replied with uncertainty.
Canine: Umm...Major Elric wandered off somewhere...We kind of had a little trouble...

She smiled at Canine's comment. "Yeah... I'm sure he'll turn back up eventually..." she said to the new arrival. "I'm Colonel Elf, btw, nice to meet you," Elf said, saluting. She turned to Canine again. "I'll get the flag... why don't you see if Colonel Hawkbelle has any questions," she said, smiling and turning back to the tree.
