As soon as Brigadier General Nate heard Brigadier General Mustang announce an hour break, it took everything in Nate's constitution to keep him from jumping up and down and proclaiming his liberation from this prison of pens and papers. Nate reveled in this new freedom for a little bit, melodramatic tears streaming down his face. "O what a beautiful thing this is...." he muttered aloud. But when he looked to his side to see if Sgt. Falman was there, he found he was already at the door. Having remembered his promise to take Nate to his cake eatery, Nate pushed his chair back and walked up to Falman. "Well, lead the way" Nate said, wearing a smug grin with his hands interlocked behind his head. Falman led Nate to a small cafe behind the Library. It was a cosy little coffee shop and they entered and falman led them to the counter to order. While waiting for Nate to choose a selection from the menu,he looked around and saw a familiar face seated by the windows. Falman="Lt.Havoc!! It's good to see you again! Come join us! Have you been well?"

He had been busy chewing on a toothpick, and thinking about the date that he was waitng on, when Falman's voice knocked him out of his thoughts. He took the toothpick out of his mouth and smiled, waving. "Heya, Falman! Funny meeting you here. I was just waiting on a date, but she is already almost an hour late." He walked up to the counter and smiled at the woman who was talking to Falman, and another man who he didnt recognize. "Hey there... " he read her nametag "..Cindy. Did you happen to have any other pretty women leave a note for someone?" She blushed a tiny bit and nodded. "Yes, actually. " She took a folded note from under the cash register. "Here you go." Havoc smiled and winked. "Thanks, cutie!" He unfolded it and opened it, his face sinking immediatly. "I.. need a smoke. I will be right back." He said to Falman, and stepped outside, tossing the note his girlfriend had left for Mustang on the counter.

He said to Falman, and stepped outside, tossing the note his girlfriend had left for Mustang on the counter. Nate walked into the store and was greeted with the lovely, homey scent of cakes baking. The store itself was rather stuffy, due both to its size and to the oven in it. But what amazed the Brigadier General was the selection the store had. Nate immediately began to weep, mumbling "I've died and gone to Heaven! Aaaaah chocolate, vanilla, Angel food, orange, lemon... o, I don't know where to begin!" He smushed his face up against the display case's glass. "Display case, you are the only thing keeping me from cakey goodness. If I had my gun, I'd annihilate you." The only thing that kept him from going home, coming back with his gun, and shattering the glass with the butt of his rifle was the stare of the lady behind the counter. Nate quickly pulled up, a very embarrassed look on his face. "Uhhhh give me some of everything I just said." A large bead of sweat dripped down the attendant's head as Nate let out a feeble laugh with a matching smile. After breathing out a sigh, the attendant said "Well, our lemon cakes are still baking, so you'll have to wait for that. But you'll get it fresh that way." Nate nodded his consent and said "Alright, just give me everything when it comes out." But as soon as he finished saying that, he heard Sgt. Falman conversing outside. He looked to his left and was, of course, surprised to see that he had stepped outside. Falman was now conversing with a lean, well-dressed man with bright orange hair. The man stepped inside and exchanged some words with the attendant. She gave him a note, which the man read. Upon reading its contents, though, his mood dropped considerably. He stumbled out of the shop, muttering something about a smoke. Nate looked at the note on the counter and was about to pick it up when a familiar scent wafted in. It was there when Nate walked into the store, but it was stronger now, warmer and in the open. Nate's nostrils twitched. "I take it... the... lemon cake is... done now?" he queried, face making nervous twitches in between words. When she said yes, he said "I'll be taking my order now... how much do... I owe you?" After setting the money on the counter, he gathered his purchases, stepped outside, and pulled a fork out of his seemingly-bottomless pocket. A squeee of delight was heard before Nate dug into the cake. In between mouthfuls of cake, however, Nate asked Falman "What was on that note? I saw that it was for Mustang, but that was it."

Falman responded to Nate busy stuffing his face with cake as if it was the ambrosia of the Gods. Falman="That was my old comrade Lt Havoc outside. He thought the note was left behind for him by his date and it was a note to meet up for a date with Mustang instead. He's a little upset. You enjoy the cake,Sir.I'm gonna go talk to him again" Falman stepped back outside to speak to Havoc. Falman-"Excuse me,Lt,it's probably not a good time to ask,but since you have nothing to do now, maybe you could join us back at the office to help with some paperwork when we leave here.?"

He sighed, taking a long draw on his cigarette, taking it down to the end of the butt. He let out a sigh, exhaling the last of his smoke. He dropped the butt and stepped on it, putting it out of its misery. For just a quick moment, he envied that cigarette. He looked to his friend and gave a weak smirk. "Sure, why the heck not. It doesn't look like I have much to look for here. " He shrugged, and took out another toothpick to hold him over until he could take another smoke break. "I don't think I am going to be eating cake for a while." He turned back towards the entrance of the cafe. "Lead the way, chief."

Falman-"Brigadier General Nate, this is my former comrade Lt Jean Havoc."

Falman led Havoc back inside to try one more time to introduce him to Nate, who now had a pile of 5 plates on the counter in front of him and was receiving more. Falman-"Brigadier General Nate, this is my former comrade Lt Jean Havoc." Nate bit into the vanilla cake. He almost fell out of his chair from the flavor. Soft vanilla danced on his tongue, nay, danced a soft waltz like the first waltz between a lady and her lover. And the texture was like soft satin, a blanket of the stuff rubbing against your skin after a pleasant night's sleep, waking up to find a new day with the birds singing outside your window. A tear fell from Nate's eye. So beautiful... so... lovely... He wolfed down the rest of the cake, then set it atop the pile of plates. That was his 5th. A soft sigh emanated from Nate's lips. Mmmm. Contentment. At that moment, Sgt. Falman walked in and introduced the lean, orange-headed man as a Lt. Jean Havoc. Nate got up and offered his hand. "Lt. Havoc- pleasure to finally meet you. I heard a lot about you from my men who have served with you previously under Brig. Gen. Mustang." Nate stared at his hand for a moment, then pulled it back into a crisp salute. Suddenly, Nate's eyes widened. Lt. Havoc served under Mustang... he was one of his... Suddenly, the Brigadier General was clutching Havoc's leg. "LIEUTENANT! YOU HAVE TO GET ME OUT OF THAT PAPERWORK HELL! PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE USE WHATEVER CLOUT YOU HAVE TO GET ME OUT! I'LL BE FOREVER IN YOUR DEBT IF YOU DO IT! I'LL BUY YOU AS MUCH CAKE AS YOU CAN STOMACH! PLEASE! HELP ME OUT!" Nate looked up at Havoc with what can only be described as puppy eyes. Tears were rolling down his face, mouth turned down in an utterly pathetic frown. "Please, Lieutenant! What do you say?"

For just a moment, Havoc watched the man savoring this cake, and a look of confusion spread over his face. He had never seen a man so... happy for the simple joy of eating. Of course, he had to admit, that the feeling of all of his muscles relaxing as that wonderful nicotene seeped into his bloodstream probably made him feel the same way. He guessed he could understand how this man felt. As Falman introduced him, Havoc immediatly saluted, then took the man's hand in a firm, squezing handshake. "It is nice to meet you, sir." He said, formally. He was about to return the salute with a secone one of his own, when he felt a rush of air an a suddenly large amount of pressure on his leg. With a quick glimpse he saw this man, who was close to 6 ranks above him pleading with him like a new recruit wanting leave time. The confused look returned to his face, tenfold. "Um... okay.. I will see what I can do.. though I dunno how much pull I really have with the boss anymore, since we all got split up." He shook his leg a little, trying to loosen the man's grip. it was cutting off the circulation to his legs. He looked over to Falman, pleading for a little bit of help.. "Er.. I guess we should.. head back then? Hopefully the boss man is still around."

Mustang turned around to see them enter with Havoc. B.G.Mustang-"Lt.Havoc.What brings you here today?"

Ed stared in disbelief at the alley where the black shadow came from. Ed-"It couldn't be...NO WAY!!" Ed ran to the alley and saw no one there. He looked around and nothing looked out of place. Ed-"And just when I thought I didn't have to worry about them anymore....." The lady in the tan cloak stared down at the alchemist from the rooftop, lazily sitting on the edge with her legs crossed in front of her. Out of slight interest, she watched, hand in palm as he examined the empty alley to where she had gone. Her lips pulled into a smile as she looked over into her other hand, the canister shining in the high-noon sun, before she tucked it under her cloak.

Canine blinked and scanned the area. Canine: I have no idea! W-what... Ed stared in disbelief at the alley where the black shadow came from. Ed-"It couldn't be...NO WAY!!" Canine: Who's them? The way he said it, they didn't sound too friendly.

Elf yelled running after the blonde. She looked around the alleyway only to find nothing. She looked over at Ed as the younger alchemist mumbled something under his breath. Elf stared at Canine as she questioned Ed. 'Well, whoever they are they just jacked two of our flags and my spare!' Elf fumed silently. She bent down and lay her hand on the pavement. 'Good! Just enough...' she sighed and activated her array. She managed to pull enough metal out of the ground to make a slightly smaller spare, which she immediately tucked into her one of her inner pockets. She turned back to Ed. "Do you know what exactly that was, Fullmetal?"

But I wish it could have ended somewhere better... Nonetheless, Nate stared forward and awaited Mustang's orders.

Due to an executive decision, Jingles hopped off Armstrong and ran down the sewer, tramping through the muck until she reached a clearing. A large neon green flag hung from the ceiling, taunting the poor alchemist so far below.
